A Solar System Designed Around a Two-Storey Townhouse

Living in a two-storey townhouse can present its own challenges when it comes to planning a solar system. For this homeowner, the priority was to have a setup that suited the roof layout and worked efficiently, rather than simply choosing a standard system.

He chose a 5kW Fronius GEN24 inverter paired with 6.6kW LONGi panels. Because of the roof layout, the panels were arranged as a split system rather than being installed in a single direction. This approach was designed to support solar generation from the morning through to the afternoon.

  • 6.6kW LONGi panels
  • Consumption meter

From the initial planning through to installation, the focus remained on what the homeowner actually needed. There was no push for unnecessary additions, and the team also handled the required approvals and paperwork to keep the process straightforward.

Installation day went smoothly, with the system completed on time and the site left clean and tidy. One of the key details was the cable routing. Instead of running visible conduits along the external walls, the team routed the cables internally from the garage to the switchboard on the opposite side of the house. This resulted in a much neater finish.

The homeowner also opted for a consumption meter, giving him a clearer picture of how electricity is being used throughout the home. Through the meter and Fronius app, he can monitor what the system is generating, what is being exported to the grid, and what is being imported.

The finished installation gave the homeowner a system designed around the townhouse’s roof layout, with careful attention to both functionality and the overall finish. He was very happy with the clean installation and straightforward experience.
